LG Launches New NFT Marketplace ‘LG ART LAB’ On Hedera Blockchain

On Friday, LG announced the launch of its new NFT marketplace, dubbed ‘LG Art Lab,’ which lets users buy, sell and trade NFTs directly on LG smart TVs.

The news comes nearly eight months after @lgusa announced at a press conference that they had plans to incorporate NFT features into its smart TVs. However, the statement didn’t surprise many as LG joined Hedera’s ( @hashgraph ) Governing Council in 2020.

“Our NFT marketplace will host a highly curated selection of world-class artists from around the globe,” @lg_oledart announced in a tweet on Friday. They went on to say, “We are excited to introduce our inaugural artist, BarryXBall ( @barryxballstudio ), to highlight LG Art Lab’s premier artists.”

In June, LG collaborated with world-renowned British-Indian artist Anish Kapoor ( @dirty_corner ), a sculptor known for his distinctive and often impressively-scaled installations, creating ten editions of the LG SIGNATURE OLED R model.

The platform is now available in the U.S. exclusively to compatible LG models running webOS 5.0 or later.
